Free Hairloss Support With Headwrappers

We are delighted to have paired up with Chemotherapy Headwear to offer online monthly support to people who are losing their hair through cancer treatment. These have been running successfully since November 2020 and are held on the last Thursday of every month at 11am. If you are interested, please go to the Scarf Tying Event page on this website.

Before the session:

We will send you out a goodie bag, including a free cotton scarf, a woolly headband, and other items. The scarf can be used to follow the tutorials on the day

What to expect from the hour-long session?

We will show you three basic scarf tying techniques with the free scarf provided and show a couple of examples of how to tie a long scarf, the sort that most people have in their wardrobes. We then talk about scalp care, before, during and after hair loss and signpost clients to other charities which might be of interest. To finish off the session, Lindsey from Chemotherapy Headwear will demonstrate how to wear some of the purpose made items that are also available.

After the session:

Trustees at HeadWrappers realise that during the pandemic, people who are having chemotherapy, are often unable to chat to others who are going through the same experience. We feel that this is a crucial part of getting through the treatment, so have started a twice monthly informal session, called Tea Topknots & Turbans. We suggest that you grab yourself a cup of tea, settle down in a comfy chair and join us for an hour of chat and information sharing.

These are held on the first Thursday of each month at 13:30 and the third Thursday at 19:00. We are lucky enough to have guest speakers attend these sessions, the topics vary between headwear, face shapes and colours, make-up, other charities or even wigs, to mention just a few.
